Raves for AdventurExperiences with Nicole O'Neil Photography!
The moment the train exited the first dark tunnel and we were staring out over the vast sparkling sea, I knew we had been transported to another world. Nicole not only introduced us to the Cinque Terre, but led us on an exploratory journey of a truly incredible place. The history, people, terrain, and most certainly the food, were revealed piece by piece until we found ourselves utterly smitten. From the guided hikes through beautiful forests and along steep mountain-side vineyards, to the private cooking class with a chef in his hillside restaurant, to the day trip to bike around a medieval city, each experience was authentic and memorable. Every morning I had to pinch myself, wondering how one gets lucky enough to experience waking up in the harbor in a tiny Italian village, listening to the waves while enjoying a fresh cappuccino? But we make our own luck. Anyone considering this trip should not hesitate, as it will be one of the highlights they will remember forever. Thank you to Nicole for not keeping this amazing place to yourself, but instead deciding to share these experiences with the rest of us.
I'm grateful for the beautiful photographs Nicole captured of my friend and I experiencing this place together. Unlike all of my selfies in front of European cathedrals, I now have photos with life in them, depicting our adventures and laughter. Having these photos makes leaving this magical place just a bit more tolerable, as we can look at them and truly recall the smell of the sea water, the warm Italian sun on our face, and the never-ending baskets of focaccia in our bellies. This was truly the trip of a lifetime, and just the start of a new love affair with the Cinque Terre.
It literally took plains, trains and automobiles to get us there, and the long day of travel made us weary. But then we thought, anywhere truly authentic should take a long time to get to. Then you know you're somewhere special.
